AKRON, Ohio — Akron Fire responded to a report of an unknown amount of oil in the Little Cuyahoga River on Saturday afternoon.
An anonymous caller reported the oil at 4:40 p.m. near the intersection of E. Market St. and Massillon Road. Upon arrival, the Akron Fire Department confirmed there was oil in the river. The hazmat team was dispatched to contain the spill as well.
The EPA was called to assess the incident along with fire department officials and are continuing to monitor the scene. Officials said the source of the spill is unknown at this time.
