Officials say the boil water advisory that was put in place after a water main break in the town of Ontario has been lifted. The advisory is no longer in effect as of 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4. The town says it impacted the area west of Knickerbocker Road.
Residents are advised that the water is now safe to drink, however, everyone is asked to flush the water fixtures in their homes for around five to 30 minutes, until the water runs clear. Officials say you should start with the lowest fixture in your home and work your way up while running cold water only.
If the water remains cloudy, people are asked to contact the Ontario Water Plant at 315-524-8520.
According to an advisory posted on the town's website, the water main break took place Saturday at around 5 p.m.
The break prompted the Wayne Central School District to cancel classes on Monday and Tuesday.
