CLEARWATER BEACH, Fla. — There is a new way to get from the St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) and Clearwater Beach: The Grouper.

What You Need To Know

  • The Grouper is a new shuttle service between St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) and Clearwater Beach

  • It’s priced at $8 a person, with group rates available

  • Riders can book their trips online or on the Grouper app, up to two months ahead of their flight

It’s a new shuttle service offered through the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA).

“This is great asset to the county and the beach," said County Commissioner Brian Scott. "It’s going to be fabulous for economic development and to get tourists to come here."

Complete with beach decorations on board, the idea is to give visitors an affordable and convenient option to the beach after flying in.

It’s priced at $8 a person, with group rates available.

That’s compared to a one-way ride share service, which tourism officials say could cost passengers more than $100 for a one-way trip during peak times.

Beach businesses recovering from the hurricanes in 2024 are welcoming the Grouper as well.

“We tell our guests about the Grouper service," said Ken Hamilton with Palm Pavilion. "It will save them money. It’s a great opportunity for us.”

The Grouper is an on-demand service, and riders are asked to make reservations ahead of time.

The shuttle will drop visitors anywhere on Clearwater Beach and give them a ride back to the airport as well.

Riders can book their trips online or on the Grouper app, up to two months ahead of their flight.
