AUSTIN, Texas — To assist those impacted by the recent federal government mass layoffs, the City of Austin launched a “Get Hired in Austin” campaign.

“We are currently hiring for many vacancies at various skill levels and areas of expertise,” Austin City Manager T.C. Broadnax said. “With so many dedicated public servants looking for work where they can make a difference, it only makes sense to let them know the City of Austin is a rewarding option.”

The campaign seeks to bring federal employees to the Austin area for jobs and housing.

The campaign will highlight jobs with high vacancy rates, especially those traditionally hard to fill in sectors like engineering, IT and health care.

“This is a unique opportunity to recruit professionals who want to start or continue their public service careers helping our community in Austin,” Mayor Kirk Watson said. “I’m proud of the work our public servants do every day and hope to add to our talented workforce.”

Austin’s annual hiring goal is approximately 2,400 permanent and temporary positions, in a workforce totaling 16,000.

In addition, a career expo will be hosted by the city of Austin on April 2, beginning at 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
