TAMPA — Tampa Fire Rescue controlled a trash fire that was near — but did not affect operations at — Tampa International Airport.

The fire was off of West Hesperides and Osborne Avenue, with crews responding at about 3:20 p.m.

In a news release, Tampa Fire Rescue said: "Workers from the scrap metal facility used their equipment to assist with moving piles of the recycled metals for firefighters to extinguish the hotspots."

The fire was under control in less than an hour.
