DAYTON — The Miami Valley is preparing to celebrate conservation with Earth DayTON as spring makes its way into the Buckeye State.
The initiative began in 2023 through collaboration between Dayton's Office of Sustainability and Five Rivers MetroParks to get community members involved in events, programs and volunteer opportunities throughout Earth Month.
"The region is fortunate to have myriad opportunities for people to help make a difference in our communities and for the world we live in year-round, but Earth Month provides a special time to elevate these efforts and share successes, as well as ongoing challenges, with those beginning or establishing the next steps of their journey," Five Rivers Metroparks said in a news release.
This year the initiative kicks off with a mini expo at the MetroParks' 2nd Street Market on Sunday, April 6 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visitors will have an opportunity to take a ride with Drive Electric Dayton and even drive an EV outside the Market pavilion.
Seven Seed Sowers will host a seed exchange as well.
Partners will have a variety of tables and activities for conversation about sustainability efforts and to discuss events happening throughout the month.
Other organizations who will attend the expo include:
