AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Texas at Austin just announced the keynote speaker for its 142nd Commencement Ceremony – and it’s the co-creator of the award-winning TV drama series “Yellowstone.”

Taylor Sheridan, producer, director and writer of many television shows such as “Yellowstone,” “Mayor of Kingstown,” and “Tulsa King,” will deliver a speech at the university’s commencement ceremony at the Darrel K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on May 10, UT announced in a social media post.

Sheridan, a Texas native himself, who mainly grew up in Fort Worth, attended Texas State University for some time before dropping out and moving to Austin. There he was recruited by a talent agent for acting opportunities. Shortly after, his career took off.

“His [Taylor Sheridan’s] journey to the top of the entertainment field is a testament to the power of hard work, creativity and staying true to one’s roots – values that resonate deeply with Longhorn Nation,” said UT's interim president, Jim Davis.

According to the university, Sheridan also owns two Texas ranches, Bosque Ranch and the Four Sixes Ranch, which are also used for “Yellowstone” filming locations. He also plays the role of character Travis Wheatley.

The 90-minute long ceremony will feature other speakers, live performances and a traditional firework show
