- The event at SeaWorld Orlando wraps on May 7
If you are looking for a place to celebrate, look no further than SeaWorld Orlando.
For Manager of Creative Show Operations Kyle Smith, it is one of his favorite weeks of the year.
“Who doesn’t love a party, a fiesta in the streets, so we are celebrating it Mexican style right now,” said Smith.
It is the park’s third year closing out the Seven Seas Food Festival with this celebration, incorporating Mexican influences into their designs.
“Whether it is in the bright colors in our decor, or even a traditional mariachi band performing here along with some of our Latin DJs that are local to our community along with our stilt walkers and dancers,” said Smith.
Special food items are being added to the Mexico booth just in time for the holiday, like Cochinita Pibil, which is slow roasted pork wrapped in a tortilla and topped with pickled red onion cheese and cilantro crema.
“Honestly, Mexican cuisine is my favorite. I could eat Mexican cuisine every single day, so we have some added culinary elements,” said Smith. “Personally, my favorite is the blood orange frozen margarita. It is very tasty.”
But this party is not just for adults, as plenty of entertainers are on hand to make sure even the smallest guests get in on the fun. There is also a special area for kids in the Wild Arctic Plaza.
“This year as well, we have a kids craft area where anyone in the entire family can come in and make that wonderful tissue paper flower to be able to take home, and it is all free of charge,” said Smith.
Smith shared that with Central Florida being so diverse, this is just another opportunity to highlight what makes the area so special.
“We really do a really great job here at SeaWorld Orlando recognizing all different cultures and backgrounds and welcoming them to our parks specifically here in Orlando, that is something that we are truly proud of to be able to offer so many different festivals that so many people can relate to, and we can celebrate their history,” said Smith.
So dust off your salsa moves and join in on the fiesta before it wraps on May 7. It’s one you don’t want to miss.
The party starts on Thursday and runs through Sunday.
But don’t think the excitement is over when Cinco de Mayo and the Seven Seas Food Festival ends. Later this month, SeaWorld is opening Pipeline: The Surf Coaster, the a first of its kind stand up roller coaster.
