VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — As election results rolled in Tuesday night, a Republican watch party in Daytona Beach had multiple candidates in attendance who were thanking their supporters.

That includes Jake Johansson, one of the candidates for the Volusia County Council at-large seat.

He will face Doug Pettit in a runoff in November.

“We’ve got a lot of work to be done in the next couple of months,” said Johansson as he addressed the crowd.

Ken Smith was the top vote-getter for the District 4 race. He’ll face Troy Kent in November.

David Santiago will face Victor Ramos in the District 5 race.

As for the Volusia County School Board, Jamie Haynes and Albert Bouie will also go head-to-head in a runoff for the school board's District 1 seat.

Incumbent Rueben Colon will retain the school board District 5 seat.

The school board District 3 race was a close one. Justin Kennedy and Jessie Thompson will face each other in a runoff after receiving 9,422 votes and 9,485 votes, respectively.

“That means people are finally paying attention to school board races,” Thompson said.

Wesley Heidt won County Judge Group 5.
