Federal prosecutors are seeking an 87-month prison sentence — a little more than seven years — for disgraced former Republican Congressman George Santos, according to a court filing Friday.

Santos pleaded guilty to federal fraud and identity theft charges last summer. He was originally set to be sentenced on Feb. 7 of this year, but a New York judge granted Santos’ request to delay his sentencing until April 25.

Santos was elected in 2022 to represent a wealthy New York district covering parts of Queens and Long Island.

After an 11-month tenure plagued by various scandals — ultimately leading to 23-charge federal indictment — Santos became the sixth House member in the chamber’s history to be expelled by colleagues.
