Calvary Christian’s Volleyball team is on a mission this season.
The 2018 Regional Finalists won 19 games last season and at the center of it all, the one-two punch of twins Cate and Jenna long.
"Chemistry is a big thing I think for teams and how they compete and how they play and they bring a lot of that chemistry to our team, says their head coach Kim Whitney.
The Longs moved to Florida from Illinois last year before the start of their junior year, although they are twins their personalities are far from identical on the court.
Cate, the big outside hitter for the Warriors, is the fire on the court who is driven to win every time she steps on the court, sister Jenna is the setter and the quarterback of the team who is always looking to keep her team calm and focused.
The personalities of the Long twins has been a lethal combination this year, the Warriors have won their first nine matches of the season to earn the number one 3-A ranking in the state.
Their are many stories of how twins can read each others minds, that might not be the case for the Long's but the unspoken communication between the girls has been a big weapon on the court.
Last season Cate racked up 368 kills, while Jenna dished out 892 assists.
For the two sisters who have never been apart since they started playing together at age nine, it’s hard not to think about the last game the two girls will ever play together as teammates.
For now, those worries are a long way off, the Long twins and Calvary have mission of their own and they are taking it, one pass, one set and one kill at a time.
