TAMPA, Fla. - Welcome to Dinner Etiquette 101.
Eat to the left, drink to the right. And remember, once you pick up your utensils, they never touch the table again. Simple table manners that can be daunting.
- USF hosts an etiquette dinner every semester.
- Many of the student-athletes are participants in the Lee Roy Selmon Mentoring Institute.
- Columbia Restaurant, owned by USF alum Richard Gonzmart, serves as the host site.
But just as these USF student-athletes practice to get better at their respective sports, they are practicing the art of etiquette to better themselves.
"Proper preparation prevents poor performance," said Devontres Dukes, USF junior wide receiver.
USF wants its student-athletes well rounded. That’s why they host a special dinner every semester at the Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City.
This dinner isn’t just teaching them the proper fork to use with each course. It’s preparing them for future job interviews and networking by putting them in an unknown setting. And by making the unfamiliar, familiar.
