TAMPA, Fla. - One down.

Two more to go.

“This is the best time in Tampa sports history,” said longtime Bay area sports reporter Roy Cummings said.

The Tampa Bay Lightning brought home the Stanley Cup. Are the Tampa Bay Rays next? Followed by the Tampa Bay Bucs? Keep your head on a swivel Tampa Bay fans, there’s a lot going on.

“It is a great time to be a sports fan in Tampa Bay,” Joe Bucs Fan columnist Ira Kaufman said.

To the victor go the spoils and Tampa Bay is enjoying a richness of spoils right now. The Tampa Bay Lightning won the Stanley Cup. The Tampa Bay Rays won the AL East and swept the Blue Jays to advance to the American League Division Series.

Meanwhile, just down the road, six-time Super Bowl champ Tom Brady is a Tampa Bay Buccaneer. That’s a lot of spoils.

“No one would ever think that Tampa would be the center of the sports universe but it has happened, they are,” said WDAE 620 AM/95.3 FM Host Tom Krasniqi.

“It’s crazy that we have this much success on the local sports scene,” Kaufman said.

2020 will forever be known as the year of the pandemic. But from a sport perspective, could 2020 also be known as the year of Tampa Bay?

“All three of the major sports could be champions in this calendar year which would be unfreaking believable,” said WDAE 620 AM/95.3 FM Ronnie Lane.

Soak it up Tampa Bay fans. It doesn’t get much better than this.

Or does it?

“To have it all happening at once, man, a chance for Tampa to win the triple crown of sports,” Cummings said, “that would be absolutely immeasurable.
