"I joined at three years old and played third base. My brother played first because I could throw and he could catch,” Romano said.

His baseball career came full circle. From Tampa high school star to major league to a member of his hometown team, the Rays.

"You always dream about playing for your hometown team so that was a special homecoming for me."

Now, he has another dream. Helping his daughter reach hers.

Her name is Mila Romano, also known as Mashing Mila.

She may be small, but she has a powerful swing.

"She was one and a half years old when she started to hit a ball off the tee,” Romano said. "With me being a former professional player and now an agent, we’re always watching baseball on TV and I think she just picked up the swing.”

Her dad started posting videos of her swing on Instagram for friends and family, but others quickly took notice.

“People now follow her from all over the world,” Romano said. "They love to watch her swing, every time I post, so many great comments.”

She’s become an up and coming sports influencer, getting thousands of views.

"It’s something to actually keep the memories catalogued, which is great, but it’s also some girl power, and showing off what little girls can do," he said.

Hit like a girl? Mila takes that as a compliment.

"One of my teammates was Ken Griffey Jr. and if you put her swing with his side-by-side, next to probably the greatest baseball swing, it actually looks identical the way the hips work, the hands work, the head, the rotation.”

The 5-year-old mashes more than softballs - she’s also a budding tennis standout.

"I’ve seen some of the greatest talent of all time with teammates or current clients now, some of the things she’ll do athletically is like, wow, that’s incredible,” said Romano.

She has big dreams, but wherever sports take her, these father-daughter moments will last a lifetime.

"It’s fun to have it out there and have people kind of look up to her as inspiration,” Romano said. "She’s definitely got that rare, special ability.”
