TAMPA, FL - Professional athletes love to look good whenever they go out. And plenty of Tampa’s sports stars trust one person for help with their wardrobe.
His name is David Kahn. He is the owner of Bespoke & Co. in South Tampa. David is always dressed to the nines with a tape measure around his neck and is all about making his clients feel confident. Whether it’s a big time athlete or a Tampa businessperson.
“The level of quality, the level of service,” said James Garner, a client and VP for Marcus & Millichap. “When I first put (the suit) on it just wore different.”
And that’s what it’s really all about for David: making everyone feel comfortable in the clothes they have on. It doesn’t take long for him to scroll through his phone to find some top-tier clients like Bucs wide receiver Mike Evans as well as Lightning players Andrei Vasilevskiy and Nikita Kucherov.
“I helped these guys out for their NHL Honors Awards outfits,” said Kahn. “They’re probably the best in the NHL, and really good guys. And good clients.”
David is enlisting some of his top clients for a special fashion show titled “A View to A Kill.” It’s a glamorous event done from the heart. David is raising money and awareness for the Children’s Cancer Center. He helped design this piece for one of his models – Bucs punter Bradley Pinion.
“We have a conversation about what they like and I wanted them to get something that will represent them and their taste, but also fit in my show,” said Kahn.
David takes one final look at his pieces and then its time to get everything on the rack and head off to the show.
The event is taking place at Armature Works in Tampa.
“Well now it’s show time,” said Kahn, dressed in a full pinstripe suit. “So, this has been a year, or actually two years with COVID, of preparation.”
Prior to the fashion show there is a good ol’ cocktail hour. Everyone gets together in the main room and is able to see what all the models will be wearing. Remember that shirt and jacket combo? It’s now on its owner, Bradley Pinion. The Bucs punter couldn’t love it anymore.
“My wife thinks it’s a little 70ish but I love it,” said Pinion with a smile. “(David) wants you to feel good in it, he wants you to feel confident in it.”
The fashion show is a success with several Bucs taking part – including tight end Cameron Brate and back up QB Blaine Gabbert. All of them strutting their stuff hoping those in attendance will open their wallets and spend a few bucks for a charity near and dear to the heart of the man tasked with making them look and feel like a million bucks.
