It's Thursday night and the weekly golf league is starting to gather at Clearwater Country Club

Golfers hit the range and the putting greens getting ready for the night's competition, but this league is a little bit different then your average weekly league, this is a Spark Golf League..

Spark Golf was created by Charlie Klaus and three other Co-Founders back in 2017. The goal was simple.

"It’s all about being a little less traditional, says Klaus it’s all about being fun, little more casual and really just a way to play recreational golf, meet new people and be social"

This is rare for Charlie to leave his home in Orlando to visit one of the many leagues Spark now runs across the state.

"We care so much about like customer support, says Charlie we’re always in front of the computer waiting for people to reach out, but it’s great to see it, everybody gathering getting ready to have fun and be social."

So what makes up a player in a Spark Golf League?

"It’s somebody who wants to meet people, have a couple drinks on the course, Says Klaus. we play nine holes, so it’s pretty convenient, it’s only going to take two hours of your time, but we do keep score if you want to have a little competition as well.

Charlie and his partners, who worked for another Golf App previously developed an app that keeps track of your own personal scores each week in the league and offers a live leader board so you can track how you are doing against your other league mates every week.

When the Orlando based company started five years ago they had just 13 courses in six markets across the country, including Tampa. In five years Spark Golf has exploded, growing from13 courses in six markets to now over twelve-hundred leagues in one-hundred markets.

The folks at Spark Golf want to get in fun and casual, while attracting golfer who are out for a good time and too meet people.

Your average Spark golfer shoots between 45 and 50 for nine holes, but it's not scores that attract these weekly player across the country, it's the experience.
