TAMPA, Fla. — Sometimes all it takes is to have a little faith. Dixie Hollins head coach Jason Stokes is that guy.
"The biggest thing like I said is mindset and getting kids to buy in and getting kids to understand, there’s no short cuts".
After Stops at Pasco and Gaither High Schools, Coach Stokes took over a Royals program last season that has had just two winning seasons in the last 20-years.
"These kids have just been beaten down for years because of the losing" Coach Stokes explained at a recent Spring football practice.
As the spring football season comes to an end, Coach Stokes is not looking for the quick fix at Hollins, he and his coaches are committed to building something here that everyone can be proud of for years to come.
For the 14 seniors that are on the Hollins roster, this will be the last time most them will ever step on a football field after this season and that’s what motivates Coach Stokes and his staff beyond whatever record this team ends up with.
The future is bright at Hollins. No one knows what the season holds for the Royals, but one thing is for sure, the group is commited to turning the program around.
