TAMPA, Fla. Resilent. That's the best way to describe the make-up of this year's Cambridge Christian Cross country teams.
Head Coach Jeff Vargas and some of his Lancers team returned to a Tampa Park last week to remember the challenges this small group had to overcome to achieve the ultimate goal.
For the second time in four years, the girls team was crowned the 1A State Champs after state runner-up finishes in 2022 and 2023. Five runners finished in the Top 25.
The Girls race ended 50-minutes before the boys started and served as the perfect inspiration for the afternoon.
The motivation paid off with two boys in the Top 10 and five in the Top 60 to propel the Lancers to their first Boys 1A State Championship.
This years sweep joined an elite group. For just the third time in the history of the state there was a clean sweep in 1A. and The Cambridge boys and girls had made school history.
Cambridge put the state on notice, this little school will be a big problem for years to come.
