Don't leave home without your umbrella or rain jacket today.
A slow moving front will bring much needed rain to the area today and tonight. It will hopefully help to wash a lot of the pollen away for a while, and it should help with the dry conditions we've seen in recent weeks.
Look for off and on showers through the morning, and then a more widespread and heavier rain this afternoon and evening.
A few storms could be embedded with the rain this afternoon. During that time, there's a level 1 to 2 risk for a severe storm capable of producing damaging winds.
As the front works its way across the Triangle, temperatures will hold in the low 70s most of the day. Locations south and southeast of Raleigh will warm closer to 80.
Most of the area should see around one to two inches of rain through tonight. The rain will taper off all together after midnight.
Cooler and dry conditions are expected for tomorrow through the middle of the week.
If you have sensitive plants outside, be aware that frost will be possible Wednesday morning as lows dip into the 30s.
We'll see another chance of rain at the end of the week.
