If you're a fan of the sweltering summer heat, then next week will make you smile. The Commonwealth could see the hottest temperatures of the season.

Hopefully, you have a pool or know someone that does because the mercury will be sky high next week, with temperatures well above average. In fact, record highs are possible in spots.

By definition, a heatwave is when temperatures reach 90 degrees or above for three consecutive days in a row.

With the heat cranking up on Monday and Tuesday, the graphic below shows the current record highs set in parts of the state on June 13 and 14.

A ridge of high pressure will set up in the center of the country, so much of the nation will be feeling the summer sizzle next week, where highs will soar well into the 90s and even into the triple digits for some.
