TAMPA, Fla. — Busch Gardens Tampa Bay reopened to guests Thursday after being forced to close by a city of Tampa water main break that prompted a boil-water alert to be issued to the entire city.

The theme park closed early Monday and reopened noon Thursday.

“Due to a water main break impacting the city of Tampa, the park will be closed Tuesday, December 8,” the park posted on its website. “We are actively working with the appropriate community contacts and will share additional updates to park operations when available.”

When it reopened Thursday, Busch Gardens said on Twitter that it would "temporarily modify some culinary options" until the city of Tampa confirmed that tap water was safe to drink again.

The city lifted the boil-water notice at about 10 a.m. Thursday.

According to city of Tampa officials, a third-party crew hit a transmission main coming from the David L. Tippin Water Treatment Facility while performing work in the area Monday. While they repaired the line, residents were urged to boil their water.
