ORLANDO, Fla. — Two new attractions are set to debut at ICON Park on Tuesday.
What You Need To Know
- Orlando Slingshot, Orlando Free Fall set to open at ICON Park
- Slingshot will launch riders 450 feet into the air; Free Fall will send riders fall at up to 75 mph
- The record-breaking attractions join Orlando StarFlyer at the complex
The entertainment complex off International Drive will welcome the Orlando Slingshot and the Orlando FreeFall to its lineup.
Both attractions are considered to be record-breaking. Slingshot will be the tallest of its kind, standing at 300 feet. The two-tower attraction will launch riders (two at a time) out of a “volcano,” sending them 450 feet into the air in a matter of seconds.
“It launches you just like a shot out of a cannon,” said John Stine, director of sales and marketing. "It’s just an incredible, exhilarating experience.”
FreeFall, the other new attraction opening at the complex, will be the world’s tallest free-standing drop tower at 430 feet. Riders will board a ride vehicle that takes them to the top of the tower. Once at the top, riders will be tilted 30 degrees toward the ground before falling at speeds of up to 75 mph.
“You going to fall and you’re going to fall fast,” Stine said. “And then you’re going to brake about 45 feet above the ground.”
Slingshot and Free Fall—both owned and operated by the Slingshot Group of Companies—join the Orlando StarFlyer, the world’s tallest swing ride, which opened in 2018.
The new attractions offer something for thrill-seekers beyond the theme parks.
Tickets for Orlando Slingshot will be $30, while tickets for Orlando FreeFall will be priced at $12. Combo tickets that include both attractions and the StarFlyer will range from $20 to $50.
