TAMPA, Fla. — Gas crews are working to assess and repair an 8-inch natural gas pipeline that was damaged early Tuesday in the north Tampa area.

Crews closed 30th Street and Bougainvillea Avenue due to the 8” natural gas line rupture.

Tampa Fire rescue officials said the pipeline was damaged by third-party construction worker's equipment near the area.

A shelter in place notification has been issued for residents within a four-block area of the incident.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area.

Officials said the repairs could take several hours.
