ORLANDO, Fla. — The music from Disney’s crop of Broadway shows is flowing again from the America Gardens Theatre at Epcot.

After a year’s absence because of the pandemic, the Disney on Broadway concert series has returned to the Epcot International Festival of the Arts, which is currently underway at the theme park.

The concerts feature Broadway stars performing hits from shows such as “The Little Mermaid,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and “Aladdin.”

Broadway veteran Kerry Butler, who is no stranger to the festival, performed Tuesday with actor and singer Telly Leung.

For Butler, getting the chance to perform again for a live audience at Disney World was exciting.

“I stayed home, did nothing just to make sure I could make this trip,” Butler said. “So I was happy just to be here.”

But she was also looking forward to performing with Leung.

“He is such a fun partner, and we have such good chemistry on stage,” Butler said.

Leung, who is making his festival debut this year, was happy to be paired with Butler.

“I said, ‘great, I’m doing it with someone who’s a vet, who’s done this before, who is a Disney pro,’” Leung said.

The two rehearsed mostly on their own before performing together at the festival.

As for which Disney song is their favorite to perform—both of their choices come from “The Little Mermaid.” For Butler, it’s “Part of Your World.” For Leung, it’s a song that was written just for the Broadway version.

“I’ve loved singing a song that was written for Prince Eric in the Broadway version “Little Mermaid” called “Her Voice,” which Alan Menken wrote just for the stage version,” he said. “It was fun learning that.”

Butler and Leung are scheduled to perform again on Jan. 19, 22 and 23.

Other Broadway stars set to take the stage in the coming weeks include Arielle Jacobs ("Aladdin") and Adam Jacobs ("Aladdin"); Heidi Blickenstaff (“Freaky Friday,” “The Little Mermaid”) and Robert Creighton (“Frozen”); Ashley Brown (“Mary Poppins”) and Josh Strickland (“Tarzan”); and Kissy Simmons (“The Lion King”) and Michael James Scott (“Aladdin”).

The Epcot International Festival of the Arts not only highlights the performing arts but also the culinary and visual arts. Around the World Showcase, visitors can find 15 food studios serving up colorful cuisine. A variety of artwork is also display around the park.

The festival runs through Feb. 21.
