ORLANDO, Fla. — In another move toward more diversity and inclusion at its parks, Disney World has added a doll in a wheelchair to “it’s a small world.”  

The Magic Kingdom attraction was updated earlier this week to include the new doll, according to a post on the official Disney Parks Blog.

“The diversity of our cast and guests inspired us to keep our parks and experiences in a constant state of becoming: becoming more vibrant, more inclusive, and more relevant,” Disney said.

A similar update was made to Disneyland’s version of “it’s a small world” in November of 2022. Dolls in wheelchairs will also be added to the attraction at Disneyland Paris sometime this year.

This latest change is another example of Disney’s ongoing efforts to be more inclusive. In recent years, the company has removed insensitive and offensive cultural depictions from attractions like Jungle Cruise.

Splash Mountain, which featured characters from the controversial film “Song of the South,” is getting an entirely new theme. The attraction, which closed at Disney World in January, is being transformed into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, inspired by the 2009 animated film “The Princess and the Frog,” which featured Disney’s first black princess.
