TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa’s Annual Winter Village will kick off on Friday night at Curtis Hixon Park.

This year, a rotating schedule of events will encourage people to visit multiple times. Events include trivia, silent disco, theme nights and a new Ice Capades show.

Director of Public Spaces for Tampa’s Downtown Partnership Rachel Radawek says the city has worked hard to highlight small, local businesses and will have them set up inside PODS storage containers, a unique shopping experience the city has been using for years.

“One of the biggest components here at Winter Village is the ability to shop small,” she said. “This year we have 19 PODS moving and storage containers who have been a wonderful partner since day one for us. And through those 19 PODS we will move 39 small businesses this season, so there will be something for everybody on your holiday shopping list.”

Winter Village runs from Friday night through Jan. 5.

During the next six weeks, around a quarter million people are expected to visit the village.
