Saturday morning will start as one of the coldest starts to Gasparilla in roughly a decade. Temperatures are expected to start in the 30s during the early part of the day.

Mayor Jane Castor says the city doesn’t have any specific plans in place to help spectators brave the cold, but nearly 20 different agencies have teamed up to create an extensive security plan.
The safety plan is so large that agencies have broken up their officers into different divisions: the invasion, parade route, and neighborhoods and traffic control.
Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister says his agency has examined what happened in New Orleans on New Year's Day and has made security changes and upgrades. They have added additional vehicle barriers in vulnerable areas, drones and numerous undercover officers.
Crews will also be in the sky through the Tampa Police Aviation Unit, and multiple officers and paramedics will be on different types of bicycles so they can quickly navigate and cut through crowds.
The FBI is also involved on a larger scale for the 2025 event.
“The FBI has been able to have this event elevated in the special events ratings which has allowed us to receive additional resources,” Castor said. “Not just in the form of personnel but in technology as well. Drones will be up and serving that additional security.”
Law enforcement is asking that if you see any behavior you feel might be suspicious to quickly report it to an officer on the ground or by calling dispatch.
