Disney Cruise Line recently marked a construction milestone for Disney Treasure, its new cruise ship set to arrive in 2024.

The cruise line shared photos Thursday of the keel laying ceremony at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.
The ceremony, which follows maritime tradition, involved placing a newly-minted coin under the keel of the ship. The likeness of Captain Minnie Mouse was etched on the coin along with the words, “Voyager Minnie.”
Disney Treasure will have an adventure motif, a nod to Walt Disney’s love of exploration. The design of the ship’s grand hall will be inspired by “a gilded palace,” while also drawing inspiration from real places such as Asia and Africa as well as fictional places such as Agrabah.
The statue in the grand hall will feature three characters: Aladdin, Jasmine and Magic Carpet from Disney’s 1992 animated film “Aladdin.”
Disney Treasure is the second of three new class of ships for the cruise line — the first was Disney Wish, which set sail on its maiden voyage on July 14, 2022.
All of the new ships will have 1,254 staterooms and run on liquefied natural gas.
