Several area theme parks and attractions closed or adjusted operations due to Hurricane Idalia. But with the storm moving away from Florida, the attractions have started making their reopening plans.

  • Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, Adventure Island announced closures ahead of Idalia

  • Some area zoos and aquariums have also announced closures

  • Disney World, Universal Orlando, SeaWorld Orlando and Legoland Florida have not announced closures or cancellations

THEME PARKS AND ATTRACTIONS 

*Disney World, Universal Orlando, SeaWorld Orlando and Legoland Florida continued normal operations.

  • Busch Garden Tampa Bay, which closed at 3 p.m. Tuesday in anticipation of the storm, plans to reopen on Thursday. Busch Gardens says visitors whose trips are impacted by the closure should check its Weather-or-Not Assurance policy.
  • Adventure Island water park will be closed through Thursday because of the storm, with plans to reopen on Friday. Visitors impacted by the closure should check the park’s Weather-or-Not Assurance policy.
  • Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park is closed Wednesday along with its two miniature golf courses—Winter Summerland and Fantasia Gardens.
  • Aquatica Orlando, SeaWorld's water park, is closed Wednesday, but is expected to reopen on Thursday. 
  • Discovery Cove, the day resort in Orlando, is closed Wednesday but will reopen on Thursday. Anyone with reservations impacted by the closure should contact guest relations to rebook.
  • The Wheel and Carousel attractions at ICON Park, which closed Wednesday, will resume normal operations on Thursday and open at 1 p.m. Many restaurants and indoor attractions at ICON Park have remained open. Visitors should contact businesses directly for hours and other information.
  • Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex Bus Tour and the Apollo/Saturn V Center will be closed Wednesday. All other exhibits at the main visitor complex are open during regular hours.

ZOOS AND AQUARIUMS

  • Clearwater Marine Aquarium will reopen at 10 a.m. on Thursday. The aquarium received minimal damage from the storm, according to a statement on its website, and teams are cleaning up debris around the facility. 
  • Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens announced it will close at noon on Tuesday and remain closed Wednesday. The plan is to reopen on Thursday. Seminole Aerial Adventures, the zoo’s aerial climbing attraction, will be closed Tuesday through Thursday.  
  • The Florida Aquarium will resume normal operating hours on Thursday. 
  • ZooTampa at Lowry Park plans to reopen Thursday following a park safety assessment. The Zoo School will be closed through Thursday.
