TAMPA BAY, Fla. — Thousands of gallons of industrial wastewater spilled onto a construction site at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay on Wednesday, according to a pollution notice from the Department of Environmental Protection.

The spill happened at around 10 a.m. after contractors working at the site cut into a pipe, releasing about 3,000 to 5,000 gallons of wastewater, according to the state notice. A map of the spill location shows the spill happened in the Pantopia area of the park, near the site of the former SandSerpent attraction where a new roller coaster, Phoenix Rising, is being built.
The issue, which was resolved around 12:30 p.m. was reported by an environmental manager at Busch Gardens.
This is the second time in recent months that Busch Gardens has had a wastewater spill on its property. In November, an estimated 2.5 million gallons of wastewater spilled into a sinkhole that opened up next to treatment ponds in a backstage of the park.
