TAMPA, Fla. — Busch Gardens Tampa Bay announced its second oldest roller coaster, "Scorpion," will be permanently closing.

Park officials said the last day fans can ride the coaster will be on Labor Day, Sept. 2.

Scorpion first opened on May 16, 1980 and was added as part of the Timbuktu section of the park. Officials said it is the last stationary coaster of its kind.

With the ride shutting down, officials said it will pave the way for future attractions.
