TAMPA, Fla. — The Sears location at University Square Mall is among the latest stores that will be closed.

"As part of our ongoing efforts to streamline Sears Holdings’ operations, strengthen our capital position and focus on our best stores, this week the company informed associates at 46 unprofitable stores that we will be closing these stores in November 2018," Sears said in a prepared statement.

Two other Florida Sears locations will close — one in Doral/Miami and one in Naples.

Sears announced in May that it would close 72 stores.

That included a location at Citrus Park Town Center and a Kmart on East Busch Boulevard.

With the latest closure, the only remaining Sears stores in the Bay area include WestShore Paza in Tampa, Westfield Mall in Brandon, a Brooksville location and at Gulf View Square Mall in New Port Richey.
