TAMPA BAY, Fla. — As Hurricane Helene makes its way north in the Gulf of Mexico, thousands across the regions were expected to lose power at some point during the storm.
Officials with Duke Energy and Tampa Electric had crews ready to respond once the storm moved out of the region.
Officials at Duke Energy said Friday evening that power had been restored to more than 407,000 customers. And with 8,000 crew members working through the night, they said it was expected that 95% of the remaining 285,000 outages should be restored before midnight on Sunday.
