A Pinellas County man is behind bars after allegedly stealing 125 bronze vases worth about $150,000.
Detectives said 125 bronze vases went missing from Memorial Park Funeral Home in St. Petersburg on July 13. The vases were affixed to concrete headstones on gravesites throughout the cemetery for flowers and ornamental decorations. The value of all the manufactured vases is around $150,000.
Later on July 21, deputies recovered 124 of the vases from a local scrap metal yard. The yard had payed $1,149 for the scrap value of the stolen bronze vases.
On July 23, 31-year-old, Douglas Deck, was arrested and charged with four counts of dealing in stolen property, one count damage or removal of tomb or monument and one count possession of a controlled substance. Detectives said Deck was found with Fentanyl during his arrest. Deck was transported to the Pinellas County Jail.
