  • BOLTS FINAL HOMESTAND | The Tampa Bay Lightning return to Amalie Arena tonight for their final homestand of the regular season. The Bolts take on the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight, with a puck drop of 7 p.m. That will be followed by home games against the Detroit Red Wings (Friday), Buffalo Sabres (Sunday) and Florida Panthers (Tuesday).
  • TAMPA TRAFFIC | All lanes on North 21st Street are closed between East 18th Avenue and East 19th Avenue while the Tampa Water Department conducts maintenance on the water distribution system. Barricades and signs are in the area to assist with rerouting and traffic flow. The completion of the work with a return to normal traffic patterns is expected by 5 p.m. Monday.

  • TEMPLE TERRACE RIVER JAM | The City of Temple Terrace has announced River Jam, a music festival celebrating the city's 100th anniversary. The free, family-friendly event will bring the community together for a day of live music, food trucks, fun and festivities at Riverhills Park (329 S. Riverhills Dr., Temple Terrace, 33617). Hurricane Milton: Six Months Later

 

“A complete gut": An oral history of Hurricane Milton’s fury and flooding in Forest Hills

After Hurricane Milton dumped more than a foot of water in Tampa, pumps at a nearby pond in Forest Hills failed. Two pumps had no back-up generator — the back-up generator on a third never came on. Within hours, a neighborhood that was not in a flood zone was inundated with stormwater and sewage.

We talked with Kathy Kaestner, Rob and Cathy Seal and Marilyn Melendez Arnett, who shared their stories.
