Florida's 42nd District State Representative Anna V. Eskamani was inspired to run for office by her love of central Florida--she grew up in Orlando as the daughter of working-class immigrants, when to the University of Central Florida, and has long been passionate about advocating for her hometown community.

Eskamani's favorite thing about being a legislator is being able to help people. The biggest lesson that she has learned during her time in office is to always be kind--she says that kindness, even in disagreements, helps legislators build better policies.

If Eskamani could have lunch with any elected official, she would choose Barack Obama.
