We become partly sunny with a chance of a few thunderstorms today.

We have a chance of isolated thunderstorms developing near the coast and Tampa Bay around lunch time then a few scattered showers and thunderstorms will move inland during the afternoon.

A light wind becomes west-northwest around 10 to 15 mph.

With the onshore breeze, high temperatures will be in the mid 80s at the beaches and will reach the low 90s inland.

Rain chances will increase Friday into the weekend.

1. Lightning strike first against Panthers, win 4-1 in Game 1
Pierre-Edouard Bellemare scored the go-ahead goal early in the third period, Andrei Vasilevskiy remained red-hot with 34 saves and the Tampa Bay Lightning topped the Florida Panthers 4-1 in Game 1 of an Eastern Conference semifinal series Tuesday night. Nikita Kucherov and Corey Perry each had a goal and an assist, and Ross Colton also scored for the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions.

Mario Nuñez calls himself a “Tampeño," a native of Tampa, but, he considers himself an American of Cuban descent above all. Tonight, he celebrates what he hopes will be his eventual return to that country, and his heritage. 

3. Bay Area organization helps moms amid formula shortage
As parents continue to struggle to find baby formula, mothers are coming together to help. The nonprofit organization called Mothers Helping Mothers in Sarasota has been receiving formula donations from mothers throughout the Bay Area.

4. Pinellas County Schools taps Kevin Hendrick as new superintendent
The Pinellas County School Board has selected a new superintendent to lead the district, as current Superintendent Mike Grego steps down on May 29. Kevin Hendrick was the final choice during a special board meeting held Tuesday. He is the current Pinellas Schools chief academic officer. There were three finalists and 19 applicants.
