1. Texas Senate passes bill that would require voters to provide proof of citizenship
A bill requiring voters to prove their citizenship has passed the Texas Senate, bringing it one step closer to possibly becoming law as soon as this year.
The bill, authored by Sen. Bryan Hughes, R-Mineola, passed with 20 votes in favor of it in the majority Republican Senate. All 11 Democratic senators voted against the bill.
