A helicopter that plummeted into Tampa Bay in a deadly crash Friday afternoon has been recovered.

Investigators will now sift through what's left of the Robinson R-22 chopper at Quality Aircraft Salvage in Groveland, Fla.

The helicopter went down in the bay near Apollo Beach, just southwest of Beer Can Island.

John "Larry" Ward, 60, was at the helm.  Ward died in the crash.  His body was recovered from the bay on Saturday morning.

Ward had more than 20 years of experience as a commercial pilot for American Airlines.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are working to figure out what caused the helicopter to crash.
