A St. Pete Beach man died Tuesday when he apparently suffered a heart attack after crashing his motor scooter into a pedestrian, deputies say.
The crash happened at 3:02 p.m. at the intersection of 70th Avenue and Gulf Boulevard on St. Pete Beach.
David Lang, 72, was riding his 1985 Honda Elite motor scooter north on Gulf Boulevard when he hit 18-year-old Jeffrey Kurnick, who was crossing at the intersection.
Investigators say Lang apparently suffered a heart attack following the crash. He was taken to Palms of Pasadena Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:33 p.m.
Kurnick suffered minor bruising and refused treatment at the scene.
Deputies say neither impairment nor speed were factors in the crash, and that Lang was wearing a helmet at the time.
The investigation continues.
