Senior Emily Olson started her military career in her junior year at Newsome High School and wanted to wear her uniform to graduation to show her accomplishments.
The school denied Olson's request but said she could wear her uniform under her cap and gown.
Despite the school's rule, Olson said she still planned on wearing her military uniform instead of the traditional graduation garment. On Tuesday, May 22, Olson's mother said Olson was not allowed to walk across the stage with her classmates.
Olson and her mother plan on picking up her diploma Wednesday.
Olson, who has already completed basic training, plans to continue her military career.
