POLK COUNTY, Fla. — A lieutenant with the Haines City Fire Department faces a charge of battery domestic violence.

Murray Mitchell Harris, Jr., 32, was taken into custody Friday evening, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

A news release said Harris "battered his girlfriend" after the two began arguing.

The woman had visible bruises on her arm, according to the Sheriff's Office. Harris is accused of holding the woman against a front door and punching her in the arm.

Harris was booked into the Polk County Jail.
