Markeis McGlockton's family says this time of year is especially hard on them and said the woman with him that July day – Britany Jacobs – is pregnant.
Jacobs is one of the eye witnesses in the case. She is the woman whose car Michael Drejka approached outside a Clearwater convenience store.
The confrontation was caught on camera, where McGlockton pushed Drejka to the ground and Drejka fired his gun in what he calls self-defense.
The altercation stemmed from an argument about a handicap parking spot outside of the Circle A Food Store.
Jacobs had two children in the back seat of her car that day. What she didn’t know at the time was that she was pregnant with McGlockton’s child.
She said Friday she is due in February.
The family attorneys brought up the video and a key piece of evidence in this case.
They also doubled down on their response to comments made by Drejka's attorneys last week, where they called McGlockton the aggressor and bad guy in the case.
Attorneys for McGlockton say that's not true and Jacobs says that's definitely not how she plans to remember him.
"Markeis was a good man and he was the best father any kid could ask for," Jacobs said. "He enjoyed everything with his kids and most kids don't even have a father, and for him to always be in his kids life was a big impact to his kids.
"And it's hard to go through the season and the holidays without him," she said.
Drejka is out on bond on a manslaughter charge. McGlockton's family says the fact that he can spend the holidays with his family and Markeis can't is unfair.
There is now a GoFundMe page to help Britany Jacobs with providing for her family.
