CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- One person was killed and another was seriously injured after a crash in north Charlotte Thursday evening.

The crash happened just before 5 p.m. on the 10200 block of Statesville Road near Twin Lakes Parkway.

Authorities say a black 2012 Honda CRV was traveling south on Statesville Road when it hit a silver 2014 Infiniti Q50 traveling north. The Infiniti was trying to avoid the crash but still hit the Honda.

Neither alcohol nor speed are believed to be factors for the deceased driver of the Infiniti. Excessive speed is not believed to be a factor for the driver of the Honda, and impairment is undetermined at this time. The driver of the Honda is still listed in critical condition. 

The investigation is ongoing.
