TREASURE ISLAND, Fla. — A proposed dog park in a residential area in Treasure Island has garnered some mixed reviews.
- Treasure Island residents concerned over proposed dog park
- Residents say dog park would be too close to homes
- Residents to voice concerns to city council tonight
Many residents say they're not necessarily opposed to a dog park, but that the location of the proposed Isle of Capri dog park isn't a good spot.
"My main concern is our peace and quiet, that live right across from it. And I don't think it's being unreasonable to think that because I'm not opposed to the dog park, I just don't want it in a congested area where people live," said resident Gwen Box.
According to Tampa Bay newspapers, several Isle of Capri Civic Association residents and supporters of the dog park asked the city to install a dog run at Roselli Park and they promised to fund it entirely with donations.
One resident said she walks her dogs in the park every day as it is, and so do a lot of other people, so the dog park would be a huge benefit.
"I think it's great. Tons of people come and walk their dogs here. They would love to be able to let them run free. There's people that let their dogs run free on the tennis courts and the baseball fields, but this would give them a place to let them be free and they could play together and be safe," resident Jessalyn Disclafani said.
Tonight, residents will get a chance to voice their concerns to Treasure Island City Council members. However, the city council will not make any officials decisions tonight.
