TAMPA, Fla. — An argument between roommates ended with gunshots Tuesday morning, deputies say.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, the shooting happened at 10330 Golden Brook Way just after 8 a.m.

Deputies said a 64-year-old man who rented a room at the home got into a fight with a 28-year-old man. The altercation escalated, and the younger man shot the 64-year-old, they said. 

The gunman's mother, who also lives at the home, witnessed the shooting.

The wounded man, who was shot multiple times in the upper body, was taken to a hospital in critical condition and underwent surgery.

The 28-year-old man has been taken into custody.  

Authorities have not released any names in the incident or further information. The shooting remains under investigation, and charges have not been filed as of yet.
