That story, followed by the efforts of two Hillsborough County lawmakers, had led to a change in policy.
Legislation unanimously supported by the state House and Senate would allow graduates who are members of the U.S. Armed Forces to wear their uniforms at commencement exercises.
Sen. Tom Lee and Rep. Mike Beltran were behind the effort.
The measure passed 115-0 and will head to Gov. Ron DeSantis for his signature.
