ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A couple of very isolated showers this evening will go away quickly. Drier air is dominating right now, which is why we can't get many showers.

Skies will go from partly cloudy back to clear tonight. It will be another comfortable night, with lows mainly in the 60s except for low 70s near the coast. 

Friday will be very similar, with mostly sunny skies and warm highs between 88 and 91 in the afternoon. There will be very limited moisture so there will be only a tiny chance of an isolated shower late in the day into the evening. 

Otherwise Friday night will be mostly clear and nice for outdoor activities with lows again in the 60s to low 70s.

This weekend is going to have slightly hotter afternoons with highs between 90 and 92. 

There will be a slight increase in atmospheric moisture this weekend, resulting in a few isolated thunderstorms both Saturday and Sunday late in the day. The coverage will be limited to only 20 percent.

Next week we will continue the theme of mainly dry air dominating. Monday through Thursday looks mainly dry with only an occasional small chance of a passing shower. 

Highs each of those days will be in the low 90s. Lows at night will be in the upper 60s to mid 70s. 

Although we had a wet beginning to this month, it appears the next week will be much more like normal for this time of year, with only low rain chances and warm temperatures. 

Looking way down the road at the long range pattern it does look likely a strong high pressure will build over us. That will likely result in the first big heat wave for us just as we get into the Memorial Day weekend. 

That pattern is one that typically pushes our high temperatures into the mid 90s. So get ready — it could be getting hot soon.
