His name is K9 Phi and he’s tasked with the special job of helping the forensics team find human remains.

The Sheriff’s Office said he is one of the first K9s of this kind in the area.

“I give them credit because this is a important job it’s a tough job but at the end of the day when we can solve crime when we can bring justice for a family and resolution to a family that’s what makes it all worth it,” Sheriff Chris Nocco said.

The sheriff’s office was able to get Phi, thanks to community donors.

They are planning to add more forensic K9s in the near future.
