ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Most of the scattered showers and storms will drift inland and move east this evening. 

A few showers will continue to pop up overnight, especially along the coast. Skies will be partly cloudy to mostly cloudy with lows in the upper 70s.

Scattered showers will start early Saturday morning in the Gulf of Mexico and along the coast. With an eastward movement, they will then move inland and east of I-75 by the afternoon to evening. 

However, again, the one exception is that there will be a lingering chance of showers and storms north of Tampa Bay due to a batch of moisture slowly sliding south from the Panhandle. 

With an onshore breeze from the southwest combined with the clouds, that will keep our high temperatures in check, with most areas around 89 degrees. 

By the end of the day, rain coverage will end up around 50 to 60 percent. 

A few showers will be possible Saturday night, with lows in the upper 70s.

Sunday will be mostly cloudy with numerous showers and storms coming in from the gulf through the morning hours and slowly decreasing in coverage through the afternoon. That will keep our highs in the mid to upper 80s that day.

By the end of the day Sunday, the coverage of rain will be higher than Saturday.

Of the two weekend days, Sunday looks like the cloudier and wetter day, but even on Sunday we think there will be stretches of the day where it is not raining.

MARINE FORECAST

On Saturday, expect winds southwest 8 to 16 knots. Seas will run 2 to 3 feet. Bay and inland waters will have a light chop. There will be scattered storms on the gulf, especially in the morning hours.
